After a year of long distance, Emma made the move to Indianapolis, and in May of 2020, Ryan proposed to Emma on the dock behind their home.“ I figured the dock was an incredible place to (propose),” Kelly told Indianapolis media. “I don’t know if we’ll stay here forever but this will always be our first house together.”
When it comes time for engagement photos, many couples struggle with choosing a location that best represents them, and Ryan and Emma were no different.
Ryan is on the offensive line for the Indianapolis Colts, so the couple spends most weekends in the fall together in Lucas Oil Stadium. Emma, cheering on The Colts, and Ryan helping them win. That’s where the idea of engagement photos in Lucas Oil originated.
Taking your engagement photos is an opportunity that only comes around once in a lifetime and a fantastic chance to practice for the big day. It’s important to choose the details and location for your shoot that best represent the two of you as a couple. And if you wish, specifically represent the time of your life that you during the time you and your partner spent engaged.
Ryan and Emma sure were able to do just that at Lucas Oil, as they curated a look that represented them while being fashionable and joyous.
“I had the idea to do the stadium photos in Lucas Oil, because again it’s such a big part of both of our lives in this current chapter. We love the Colts community and this city so much,” said Emma.
Because Ryan is a center, and snaps the ball every play to the quarterback, Emma had a customized football made with their wedding date - exactly one year to the day Ryan proposed.
Lucas Oil was quiet and empty, which was much different from what the couple is used to on game day. Colts games are usually loud and intense affairs, but on this day Ryan and Emma had the whole stadium to themselves, which made their time there together even more special.
While Lucas Oil is generally a place of hyperfocus and seriousness for Ryan, on this day he was able to let loose and enjoy time with his bride-to-be.
“The whole day was incredibly fun, I was sad when it was over,” Emma said. “Ryan made it so much fun, and it reminded me of what a good partner he is.”
Making your engagement session feel special and unique is very important. You want to look at your engagement photos and have them transport you back to a joyous time, filled with both intimate moments and endless laughter.
Ryan and Emma were able to do just that with a distinctive setting that represents them as a couple, as well as reflect the year they spent engaged.

Ryan and Emma grew up in the same home town of Westchester, Ohio, just five minutes down the road from each other. They even attended the same elementary school, however they didn’t meet until approximately 15 years and 600 miles later in 2017, Atlanta. Emma was living and working in Atlanta at the time, and Ryan was attending a friend’s wedding.
