In the past two years micro-weddings have become more popular than ever, and what better place to hold your micro-wedding than New York City.
Central Park is one of the most iconic and beautiful places in the country, and perfect for wedding photos. Whether you want an incredibly detailed day or you want a spontaneous elopement, there is a place in Central Park for you.
The biggest challenge with getting married in a public place is just that. It’s public. And timing is going to play a significant role in your photos.
If you’re looking for a more private moment, earlier in the day is the time for you, but instead of getting that late afternoon golden hour glow, you can catch the morning sun. However, if you’re not an early morning person but have patience, braving the crowds in the afternoon is another option for you.
Just strolling around the park you are sure to find some beautiful places to take photos. One of them being the iconic Bethesda Terrace, where Chuck Bass and Blair Waldorf infamously got married. Like Gossip Girl, the Bethesda Terrace is elegant and chic.
A set of romantic staircases leads you to a pavilion filled with natural light and intricate carvings. Bethesda Terrace is sure to transport any couple back to Europe with its old world aesthetic.
The Bethesda Terrace provides cover from the elements and is always a dependable backup plan, if not first choice, as New York can be unpredictable with the weather.
If you’re looking for a more formal venue in Central Park with easy access to some of the most picturesque places around, The Loeb Boathouse could be for you. The adjacent lake is scattered with rowboats, creating a charming atmosphere you wouldn’t expect to find in most cities.
However, 620 Loft & Garden on 5th Avenue is second to none. This exclusive rooftop features a stunning view that speaks for itself. And just down the street is the Rockefeller Center and The Top of The Rock Observatory for the couples that want to see the city from further above.
Top of The Rock provides jaw-dropping views that can be turned into the perfect backdrop for couples portraits on your wedding day. There really is no place like New York and this view will allow you to encapsulate the entire experience.
Scheduling Another Session on Wedding Weekend
Not only is your wedding day going to be a day you won't forget, but hopefully the entire weekend matches the same energy as well. It’s always a bonus to have an extra portrait session during the weekend.
For example, if your wedding day timeline doesn't allow you to visit Top of The Rock on the day of, it’s a great location for a day before or day after shoot as well. An extra shoot not only gives you time to go somewhere that is special to you and your significant other, it also gives you the opportunity to try out another look, distinct from the wedding day.
If you opted for a timeless and classy look on the wedding day, a second shoot is the perfect opportunity to go a little more edgy or fun. Changing your look allows you to take photos with a different direction in mind, and with New York’s endless locations for shoots, there are many different directions you can take.
No matter what you’re looking for, New York has something to offer, but even if you can’t find what you’re envisioning within The City, there are many beautiful places within arms reach as well.
There are endless locations in New York that I have always dreamed of shooting at, and I would love to join the celebration of you and your partner. Please don’t hesitate to reach out, I would love to connect with you!
